AEMP
Direct Support to Parents as Partners
AEMP believes that schools must develop
partnerships with children’s first teachers–their parents.
To help develop these partnerships, AEMP provides direct support to
schools through the Parents as Partners in the Educational Process
component.
Each AEMP school has a Parent Information Center (PIC)
that is staffed by a Parent Community Representative (PCR) and parent
volunteers. The role of the Parent Community Representative is to use
the Parent Information Center to support parents and teachers in working
together to help students do well in school. This component offers educational
and special interest workshops, educational resources and assistance
to parents so that they can better support their children with reading,
writing and language skill development. Parents are provided with the
following resources and assistance:
Parent Information Center (PIC)
The PIC is the location for the resources AEMP has for parents and students.
Each center has a Resource Library consisting of books, videos, tapes
and activities that are available for student and parent use. The materials
can be checked-out and worked on in the home
Parent Education Seminars and Workshops
These events are designed to give parents the information they need
to help their children improve their language and literacy skills.
