MELD Activities Handbook

The Mainstream English Language Development (MELD) Instructional Guide and Activities Handbook, developed by teachers for teachers, is designed to address mainstream English language development in standard English Language Learners during the 30-45 minute MELD instructional block. Lessons and activities included in the guide may also be incorporated into the "pre-teach" and/or "re-teach" workshop time in Open Court to support literacy development in SELs. The AEMP Instructional Strategies Videos (K-5) and (6-8), and the AEMP Instructional Framework, are suggested as accompaniments to this document. The Guide includes lessons and strategies designed to assist teachers with the implementation of standards-based-instruction for mainstream English language development in SELs.
