For Your Success
Curriculum
Guide for Grades K-1
English
for Your Success is a program directed by Noma LeMoine in the
Los Angeles Unified School District, and used there successfully,
increasing student performance as evaluated on independent assessment
instruments, echoing the voices of enthusiastic teachers, students,
and parents who have seen firsthand the positive changes in their
children.
English for Your Success is a language development program
created specifically for African American students who benefit from
a second-language acquisition model in becoming proficient in Standard
American English.
English for Your Success is based on twelve unique learning
goals which are included in the front of this book, and which are
explained in depth in the accompanying Handbook of Successful Strategies
for Educators, which you will also want to have before implementing
this program.

Teacher
Curriculum Guides with ready-to-use classroom lessons for grades
Pre-K-1, 2-3,
4-5, and 6-8
are also available.
|
The Curriculum Guide for Grades Pre-K-1 is a group
of lessons based on the learning goals that are appropriate for
these grade levels. There are two lessons for each appropriate learning
goal. The lessons are complete and ready to use in your classroom,
and have been used in Los Angeles classrooms successfully. We also
hope that you will write your own lessons based on the learning
goals, the model lessons in this book, and with guidance from the
accompanying Handbook. We've also included a Lesson Organizers in
the back of the curriculum guide to encourage you to copy it to
use as a guide in writing your own lessons.
